The "Jamaica Course" - Summer 2008

   
Field Studies in Developing Countries - Infectious Disease Surveillance & Control

Judy Harbertson, MPH, PhDc, Graduate School of Public Health will be taking 10 - 12 GSPH students for the summer 2008 course and we will be joined by University of Alabama students and will be hosted by the University of West Indies, with their faculty and students.

For international health, epidemiology, maternal and child health, health behavior, social work and environmental health, medical and nursing students, selected advanced undergraduates who would like to experience a field-based studies course which... emphasizes the integration and application of classroom, laboratory and field experiences to foster problem-solving skills for infectious disease ecology, surveillance and control, using field-based projects and teamwork, site visits for an in-depth look at some of the major public health issues, briefings & lectures by experts in the field, and cultural immersion with fellow Jamaican health professional students.

dates:August 9-19, 2008
location:Kingston, Jamaica
cost:$2,100 if enrolled and paid deposit
by April 7.

$2,200 if enrolled and paid deposit
by May 1.

$2,300 if enrolled after May 1.
