Elephants, anyone? HHS 350 students headed to Thailand are sure to see plenty as they embark upon adventure on the other side of the planet!
This course is a 3-unit, GE course that meets the SDSU Explorations B (Social and Behavioral Sciences), Cultural Diversity and CHHS International Experience requirements, and includes a 12-day international experience in Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand!
Lectures from SDSU faculty during the semester-long course will include the following topics:
- historical aspects of international health and human services
- economic development and health and social science
- nutrition in a developing country
- globalization, health, and HIV/AIDS

Field Experience
12 day field experience in Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand.
Program Highlights
- Workshops on Thai culture, social programs, and health and human service issues given by Thai experts.
- Field visitation to a variety of Thai health and social service agencies.
- A visit to a Thai farming village and overnight stay in a Thai family home.
- 4 Days in Bangkok, the Thai cultural and political capitol and 6 Days in the beach resort of Pattaya.
- Excursions to local Thai cultural and historical sights.
Credit
3 units of SDSU resident credit. This course satisfies SDSU’s GE Explorations Area B (Social and Behavioral Sciences), Cultural Diversity and CHHS International Experience requirements.

Cost
Total Program Cost: $2,287, plus airfare. Fee includes accommodations, most meals, excursions, field trips, and 3 units of SDSU resident credit.
Payment Schedule:
$700 deposit due at time of application
$732 balance due by April 9, 2012
$855 tuition due by April 30, 2012

Application due March 16, 2012 on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited to 20 participants. $700 deposit due at time of application.
