Primary Responsibilities: Professor Daly serves as the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, College of Health and Human Services. In this role, she is responsible for all of the college’s student affiliated activities such as student support services, advising, academic advocacy and student government and leadership. Additionally, she supports several university-wide activities such as student orientation, recruitment and retention efforts. She also works in collaboration with the Dean of the college and with the Vice President for Student Affairs to deliver and integrate student services and learning opportunities at SDSU. As Assistant Dean, she will also have the lead on various college administrative initiatives.
Biography: Professor Daly has over 25 years of human services and university experience. She began her career with public Social Services in the early 80’s and held various social worker and management positions both in San Diego and Mendocino counties. She joined SDSU’s School of Social Work’s Academy for Professional Excellence in October, 1996 and served as Operations Manager and Research and Evaluation Coordinator until June, 2004.
From July 2004 until December 2007, Professor Daly served as Student Affairs Coordinator for SDSU School of Social Work. She provided oversight for the MSW Admissions process as well as all student affairs at the school. She was also the Undergraduate Social Work advisor and has taught in the areas of introductory social work, fields of practice, social welfare policy and macro practice since 1999.
She also serves as faculty consultant to the Academy for Professional Excellence with Project MASTER (Multi-Disciplinary Adult Services Training and Evaluation for Results). Additional areas of research interest include child welfare recruitment and retention, adult services training and evaluation, and developing innovative programs to meet county organizational development training needs.
