Social Work Administrators Network
Shortly after the Social Work Administration concentration was established, the Social Work Administrators Network (SWAN) was formed to provide support and networking opportunities for students in the administration track. Past activities included graduation celebrations, colloquium presentations, a career development workshop and a newsletter. In 2003, over 40 administration alumni were identified at the County Health and Human Service Agency (HHSA). Some members of this group met with Agency Director Rodger Lum and provided suggestions to faculty regarding the administration curriculum.
Since then, HHSA SWAN alumni have hosted career development luncheons for current administration students. In 2006, alumni Susan Bower (MSW, MPH, '91), Marty Dare (MSW '96), Diane Ferreira (MSW '87), and Ann Fox (MSW '92) provided words of wisdom to the students. In April 2008, the HHSA SWAN alumni will once again host a luncheon for the administration students. An online newsletter for SWAN alumni is also in the planning stage.
