    Application

    • *The following instructions are for the Master of Arts program with concentrations in Speech-Language Pathology and Communicative Sciences only.

    • Applications are accepted October 1st - January 15th (receipt, not postmark). Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

    • Admission decisions will be made by mid-March.

    1. Review the Admission Requirements page.

    2. Submit the California State University (CSU) On-line Application.

      Our programs' names have recently changed. Select either:

      • "Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences: Communicative Sciences (MA)"   OR
      • "Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences: Speech-Language Pathology (MA)"

    3. Submit Two Sets of Official Transcripts From All Institutions Attended

        Mail ONE set to:
        Enrollment Services
        Graduate Admission Document Processing Unit
        San Diego State University
        San Diego, CA 92182-7416

        Include ONE set in your admission packet (see below).

        NOTE: Do not submit transcripts to Enrollment Services prior to submitting the CSU On-line application.

        NOTE: Students who received their undergraduate degree from SDSU do not need to submit an SDSU transcript as Enrollment Services can access those transcripts electronically. HOWEVER, if you attended any other universities or junior colleges, you must submit transcripts from those schools even if those grades appear on your SDSU transcript. This holds true for all other universities' transcripts as well.

    4. Submit the School of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences Application. (now closed)

      Also print a copy of the completed application and include it with your admission packet.

    5. Submit GRE Scores

      Scores are required and must be received by January 15th. Contact the Educational Testing Service (ETS) http://www.ets.org and request that your GRE scores be sent to San Diego State University electronically. Institution Code: 4682, Department Code: 0620

      TOEFL scores are required, if applicable. Contact the Educational Testing Service (ETS) http://www.ets.org and request that your TOEFL scores be sent to San Diego State University electronically. Institution Code: 4682

    6. Assemble the Admission Packet, which will include the following:

      1. The printed School's application (item 4 above)
      2. Applicant Essay - Guidelines for the Applicant Essay.
      3. Three Completed Recommendation Forms - Print three copies here.
        Note: Recommendation Form is to be returned to the applicant in a sealed envelope and signed across the sealed flap. Letters of Recommendation may be submitted separately to the School if necessary.
      4. Your resume of experiences applicable to this field (optional)
      5. One set of official transcripts

        Mail or deliver the above items enclosed in ONE envelope to:

        NOTE: If necessary, Letters of Recommendation and Transcripts can be mailed separately from your admissions packet. We will assemble everything into one file upon receipt.

      *The School is suspending new enrollment in the graduate program in Education of the Deaf for an undetermined period of time. No applications to the master's program in Education of the Deaf will be accepted this year.

      There will be no new admissions to the MA Audiology Program. Students interested in Audiology should see the AuD Joint Doctoral Program description.
