Welcome Dr. Ashley Adams, one of SLHS’ new Assistant Professors! Dr. Adams is a certified bilingual speech-language pathologist and director of the Language Impairment, Bilingual Reading, and Observational research (LIBRO) Laboratory. Her research focuses on how we can improve reading outcomes for Spanish-English bilingual children with developmental language disorders in early elementary grades. Dr. Adams got her start in research by volunteering in Dr. Henrike Blumenfeld’s research lab at SDSU-SLHS almost ten years to the day before she was offered a position to join the faculty in that same department. Dr. Adams says that experience changed the trajectory of her entire career! She was attracted to SDSU for many reasons including the phenomenal group of faculty she would be joining, the chance to serve the local Spanish-English bilingual community through her research, and the chance to make an impact by training and supporting the success of a diverse group of future speech-language pathologists.
