Jazmyn Horton

Our MSW student at SDSU- IV, Jazmyn Horton, received the “Invincible Planned Parenthood Generation Leader of the Year Award” during Latinx Heritage Month. This award recognizes outstanding Latinx champions of advocacy for sexual and reproductive health care. This particular award is given to a student who is involved in a recognized campus club and has demonstrated leadership in empowering others and building a movement of social justice. This will be the first time a student from Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest (includes San Diego, Riverside, and Imperial County) is chosen for this award!

Under the mentorship of Ms. Marible Padilla, SDSU-IV campus, Jazmyn started a PPGA chapter at the IV Campus this past year and now she is serving as the president. One of the bigger projects she and the PPGA members have been working on is installing menstrual product dispensers in our restrooms on campus. PPGA also provides educational information regarding reproductive and sexual health, provides a safe space for LGBTQ+ students, tables at community and campus events provides free condoms to students, and does political lobbying work local and statewide.

We are proud of her for her dedication and passion for making positive changes in the SDSU community!
